Someone found his feet

And they are the most fascinating things ever!  Now instead of trying to find a toy he likes I just pull off a sock and he's a happy boy.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to upload a video clip to this blog, but if you're on facebook you can check my profile and view the video I uploaded of Nicholas laughing.

Another Snow Storm

The highlights - 24 inches of snow here and another 5-10 expected tomorrow.

Andy deserves a medal for his shoveling efforts.  He dislocated his shoulder on Thursday night in a soccer game, so we spent a couple of very painful hours in the ER.  He finally perked up when the doctor explained that they'd be giving him mix of drugs they referred to as a "twilight sleep" while they poped his shoulder back into place.  It worked like a charm, he didn't rember them doing it and right after it was back into place he rolled his head over to look at the doctor and in somewhat of a slur said "so...what did that tell you"?  The doctor said "well, it told me I put your shoulder back where it should be."  Andy promptly fell asleep and started snoring.  20 minutes later when he came around he was asking when they were going to do it.  He was still a little loopy on on the way out of the hospital and let me take a picture of him....in all his glory.  He did manage to dig out our driveway with one arm, but now he's trying to book a flight to Florida for some "important meetings" before this next storm hits.

Sitting Up (with a little assistance)

When we first got this chair, he would tip right over and grab his feet so this is a big accomplisment for him....especially considering his 4 month stats (height and weight  are both in the 25th-50th percentile, his head - in the 95th!).

A little tummy time:
Outfits - courtesy of his cousin, Patrick Keenan:)
These are from a couple weeks ago when our cousin Megan came for a visit.  We went down to Eastern Market where it is much easier to get around in a carrier than a stroller.

Christmas in January??

For me, yes, it is like Christmas morning here.  Not only is there snow on the ground, but last night Nicholas slept 10 1/2 straight hours...let me repeat myself, 10 1/2 STRAIGHT HOURS.  It has been 4 1/2 months since I have slept for more than 4-5 hours in any given stretch, and that was considered a long stretch. So this morning when Nicholas woke up at 5:45am I was already awake and waiting for him.  I had actually woken up at 5am, my body clearly not accustomed to 7 hours of sleep, and checked the monitor to make sure he was still up there and the monitor was still working.  Then I procedeed to wake Andy up b/c I had to share the news with someone, so I whisper (loud enough to wake him up) "it's 5am and he's still sleeping!!!"  Andy...(half asleep) "do you need me to check on him"?  Me..."no, I'm just so happy I can't go back to sleep!"....Andy...(a very unenthusastic, "great").  After feeding Nicholas all three of us were down in the living room playing by 6:45, and I said, this is like Christmas morning we have to celebrate, so I ran around the kitchen making orange julius, coffee and omlettes.  Then I overhear Andy saying to Nicholas "it's 6:45am and all 3 of us are up, what is wrong with this picture"?!   In my euphoria I had forgotten that one of us has been logging 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night for the past couple of months, so 5:45 felt like, well 5:45am to Andy.  I'm not kidding myself that this is going to be a trend just yet, but like Christmas, I plan to enjoy every minute of today.

As for a little update, we went skiing last week in West Virginia with Andy's family which was really great except for the cold Nicholas picked up before we got there.  The poor little thing just got worse and worse each day, so we came back a night early. Monday morning he was wheezing and having trouble breathing so we took him to the docotor's office and they gave him a breathing treatment, diagnosed him with bronchiolitis and sent us home with a nebulizer to use for 3 days.  He was in rough shape but has bounced back to his normal self... oh and did I mentioned he slept for 10 1/2  STRAIGHT HOURS last night?!!

Happy New Year!

I did not do a good job of taking photos during the holidays, so my New Years resolution is to be better at capturing the moments.  I have to get Aunt Heidi to send me photos from our Christmas with the Taylor side of the family so I can add a couple here.  I was too busy enjoying the food, company and presents to take any photos.  Nicholas made the holidays very special for us this year and we're looking forward to all 2010 will bring.

We sometimes call Nicholas "No Nap Nicholas", because he can go for hours without napping and when he does nap it's for about 20-30 minutes if you're lucky. Apparently my time on the computer is up, so I'll let the photos do the talking.
